Dust bathing is one of the behaviors of Passer montanus (Eurasian tree sparrow) to maintain their feathers. Particles of sand or dust are believed to absorb excess oil from the skin and remove dry skin and parasites. This includes fleas, mites, fleas, ticks and anything that damages feathers or even sucks the blood of birds.
