Saka Kalpataru was founded in 20 November 2011, when the mutual agreement (MoU) was signed by State Minister of Environment and The Head of Indonesian Scout. The agreement is about implementation, protection, and management of environment.
Saka Kalpataru activity covering three Krida, there are Krida 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle); Krida Climate Change; and Krida Biodiversity Conservation. Based on the last Krida, Saka Kalpataru East Jakarta Sub District Headquarters was conducted training to 2016 members about biodiversity in Jakarta.
“This workshop aiming to introduce the remaining flora and fauna in Jakarta. Beside that, we hope the members can conduct direct data collection in Green Open Area of Jakarta” said Mrs Sartiti, S.P as Head of Saka Kalpataru East Jakarta when giving opening speech in Mayor East Jakarta Office (30/03).
Material presented was the introduction of Jakarta Biodiversity by Ahmad Baihaqi as Capture Nature Jakarta Coordinator – Biodiversity Warriors Yayasan KEHATI which is the member of BBC “Ardea” in Faculty of Biology National University (UNAS), the next material is first treatment in snake bite by Erwandi “Elang” Supriyadi, and breeding honey bee technique in urban area by Acim S.Sos, M.Si.
Ahmad Baihaqi said “Bondol Eagle and Condet Bark are mascot of the capital city that under threat of extinction due to the narrowing habitat. We are shared responsibility to conserve them”.
In the workshop that was attended by 30 Saka Kalpataru East Jakarta members, participant divided to 5 small group so there is six members in each group. Every time is an agent to collect biodiversity data in Green Open Area of Jakarta.
“The activity is so interesting, because I can learn about flora and fauna in Jakarta. Before I only know sparrow that exist here but now apparently there are still lot of birds live in Jakarta, such as sooty-headed bulbul, doves, and blekok bird” said Rizal, one of Saka Kalpataru member who attend the workshop.
In the workshop there is also Mr Hariyono as representative from East Jakarta Environment Department; Mrs Bety, S.Pd MM and Mr Marjoni S.Pd as Tutor of Duren Sawit, East Jakarta; Mr Yoga as staff of East Jakarta Sub District Headquarters Scout; and Mrs Sri K Hamartati S. Si. Saka Kalpataru formed as a place of education and guidance for scout to explore and develop their aptitudes, interests, skills, also experiences in science.
